“Enjoy Setouchi in Tokyo”!
Just off the beaten path in central Tokyo, “Kaorihime” is a great spot to enjoy local Setouchi cuisine.
A branch of a restaurant chain located in Kagawa and Ehime, the building in which “Kaorihime” is situated was set up to introduce and promote the Setouchi area, its culture and cuisine in the metropolis.

Located on the 2nd floor of a building in Shinbashi, Kaorihime also has a booth for making udon noodles. Yes, the udon here is all handmade and cooked to order. A popular spot for people working in the area, many drop by at lunchtime to eat Kaorihime’s delicious Sanuki-udon.

I ordered Sanuki Zaru Udon (cold udon noodles with dipping sauce) and Seasonal Tempura, the most popular lunchtime menu items. Sooo good… long thick noodles with a slightly chewy texture, a delicious hearty meal.

The tempura is also great!
While the fresh-from-the-fryer crispy texture is superb, the size is astounding!
Though stand-up-eating joints have become popular in the Kanto area, the experience is quite different from eating Sanuki-udon while seated at a regular restaurant…

If you happen to work nearby, it’s also good to visit Kaorihime in the evening!
Local Setouchi specialties and seafood delivered directly from the area feature on the menu. The restaurant also offers set meals, along with a wide variety of local shōchū from both Kagawa and Ehime.

Exquisite tableware…
Classified by the government as Intangible Cultural Property, the tableware used at Kaorihime consists of Ehime’s gorgeous “Tobe-yaki”.
Experience real Setouchi flavors in Tokyo. Please enjoy…
