MUMU is a fashionable café located by the seashore in Shodoshima Island!

Located by the beach road, which leads to olive gardens, the Kanka Valley and the Nijushi Hitomi Movie Village, a large phoenix palm tree and an orange signboard mark the way, and if you drive along the prefectural road to the east while admiring the sea, you’ll come to MUMU’s orange signboard.

This is the shop exterior. At first sight, it looks like an ordinary house, but the white-walled building as well as the phoenix palm trees (canary palm trees) give it an exotic feeling.

There is the parking area in front of the shop, which fits 4 or 5 vehicles.

As you enter the café, there are counter seats at the front, and a number of table seats at the back by the windows. As the café also has sofa seats as well as Japanese style private rooms, you can choose seating according to your mood and the occasion.

And this is the shop’s most recommended dish: chocolate banana waffles (JPY630) and tapioca strawberry (JPY450).

The waffles are made by garnishing freshly fried waffles with banana pieces and vanilla ice cream topped with chocolate sauce. The nonchalantly placed mint leaves taste refreshing. The crispy yet soft waffles are quite hearty and just sweet enough, making them especially popular with female visitors.

This is the pasta lunch (JPY850) with tapioca milk tea (JPY450), which includes a pasta dish made with plenty of island ingredients (changes daily), as well as bread and salad. Here you can enjoy a relaxing meal while admiring the sea and the occasional passing vehicle!

As mentioned, the shop also has Japanese style private rooms. These relaxing spaces are perfect for get-togethers with friends! (*If you wish to use a private room, it’s advisable to make an advanced reservation.)

The café also has outdoor seating right by the sea where you can enjoy delicious sweets and drinks while admiring the Tanoura peninsula, famous for the Nijushi no Hiromi Movie Village, as well as the islands floating in the Seto Inland Sea and ferries that pass by every now and then! (Outdoor seats are available April through October.)
