This is a great spot for enjoying Setouchi in the heart of Tokyo, brought to you by the editors of Setouchi Finder!
We visited “Hyogo Waku-Waku-kan”, a Hyogo prefecture showroom located on the first underground floor of the Kotsukaikan building in Yurakucho, Tokyo.
Straightaway we were surprised by the number and variety of products on offer at the store!
Introducing each product’s charms to the fullest, there are small hand-written notes in front of every item…
Before taking a look at the numerous fun products from Hyogo, let us introduce the staff with their lovely smiles.
The lady on the right is Ms. Ueyama, the shop manager. She is from Himeji in Hyogo prefecture, and if there is anything you want to know about Hyogo, she’s the person to ask!
“My recommendation is the Uguisu balls! Awaji Island’s onions are also a hugely popular”, says Ms. Ueyama.
Those of you connected with Hyogo must be feeling homesick…
Next to Ms. Ueyama is Ms. Masuno. What is that big thing she is holding?
“These are Akashi pettanyaki crackers. They’re made by pressing Akashi octopi one by one into thin flat (‘pettan’) sheets! They are the perfect snack to enjoy with alcohol, too!”
Ms. Nishida who is from Akashi city recommends the Tomiaji Akashitama. These are also hugely popular at the store, so the writer had a taste. They’re really delicious!
Their authentic flavor is no different to freshly made ones at their place of origin! (More details here: https://setouchifinder.com/ja/detail/289)
You can enjoy shopping while looking at the cute hand-written comments. There are plenty of products, as well as word of mouth information that can only be found here!
Please also ask the staff with their lovely smiles for information on recommended products, as well as stories characteristic of Hyogo.
