With a 100+ year history serving Western sweets and cuisine, “Shiseido parlour” is a long-established Ginza shop. There are several restaurants focused around the Kanto area, but in western Japan, there is only one place where you can enjoy the flavors of the Shiseido parlour. Well then, where is this shop located?

Konpira-san is the most famous shrine in Kagawa prefecture. During the Edo period, it is said to have been one of the two shrines that everyone wanted to visit once during his or her lifetime! The other was Ise Grand Shrine. There are 785 stone steps to the main shrine, and the cafe & restaurant Kamitsubaki is found right around the 500th step.
It was raining on the day we visited, unfortunately. However, this photograph of the wild forest outside the window turned out even more dreamlike than reality, and we were able to enjoy the divine atmosphere… This untouched forest is another of Kamitsubaki’s great charms.

The Parlour is divided into a cafe on the first floor and a restaurant underground. Yours truly had the “Special Plate” (JPY2500) lunch at the restaurant.

Shiseido Parlour is famous for its Western sweets. I also enjoyed a proper dessert!

Featuring the same aroma as the eau de parfum, this oil blotting paper is also sold at the Parlour. It’s a popular present for any female friends or family!

Konpira-san is filled with visitors wishing for happiness today, as well. A lovely restaurant that satisfies is waiting within the forest…
