Connecting Hiroshima and Shimane, the Chugoku Yamanami Highway was fully opened in March 2015. During Golden Week, the Japanese spring holidays, there will surely be many people taking this route on their way to somewhere fun?!
Here’s a highly recommended spot along the highway!!
At this time of the year, Sera Kogen Farm has around 850,000 tulips in full bloom!!

At any rate, with a tulip field area among the largest in Japan, the park is big! At 65,000 square meters, it’s wide enough to accommodate 3½ baseball fields.

With as many as 200,000 tulips are used to create a large flower pattern, the area of this flower design is also the largest in Japan.

Naturally, you need not be satisfied with looking from afar, you can also walk in the flower field. There must be many people who would like to try popping out of the flower field, just like you’ve seen on TV?!

Sera Kogen Farm is active with photographic events such as ‘Women’s Photograph Trips’, among others.
Tulips in the spring, sunflowers in the summer, dahlias in the autumn, and other flowers that change according to the season; they all steal the hearts of photographers.

If you get hungry during your walk, head towards the farm restaurant ♪ It serves dishes created with Sera’s abundance of ingredients!

They also offer a good variety of miscellaneous goods, sweets and other souvenirs. Flowers, food and shopping – you won’t be bored even if you spend a whole day here.

“As the flower design changes every year, many people come again and again,” says Seiya Yoshimune, Sera Kogen Farm’s representative. In addition to taking care of the flower fields, the farm arranges fun events one after another; the Women’s Photograph Trips mentioned above, as well as projects such as the Hana Meguri Kaido (‘Flower Tour Highway’) that connects the Sanyo and San’in areas. “There are plenty of areas famous for flowers in the Chugoku area in addition to Sera. We would like to connect those areas to make Japan’s best “flower highway”!”
Now is the best season to see tulips!! Do come and visit Sera Kogen Farm ♪
