Tokushima is seaweed heaven! While Naruto wakame seaweed is of course famous, the suji aonori green laver is the kind harvested most.
The suji aonori green laver is used in the official Setouchi brand product Bukkake Norimeshi, which is a laver mix topping to put on rice. Harvested at the mouth of the Yoshino River, it has absolutely the best flavor and aroma. Rich in many vitamins, the vitamin C in seaweed helps protect against heat. Eating this green laver everyday ensures that your beauty and body will both benefit greatly from its composition of healthy minerals and vitamins.
A Multitude of Fragrances
A burst of delicious fragrance escapes as I open the pack. Surely, this is a hint of the great flavor that is to come! I fill up a bowl of rice and sprinkle a generous portion of the mix on top. Then I drizzle a bit of soy sauce on it and dig in….. It’s amazing! Simply amazing! It’s even better than I imagined it would be!
I remember what I was told during my trip to Tokushima: “Just make a bowl of rice with a raw egg, and add this mix on top. It’s a luxurious meal in itself.” And so I did. And they were right. The various kinds of seaweed go really well together and make a fantastic mix. I’m going to try using it on a bowl of instant ramen next!
A Variety of Flavors
Another official Setouchi brand product is awa nura. This is simply seaweed that has been hung up and dried, and is therefore completely different from any regular, generic sheet of seaweed.
There are several other items in the same range of the official Setouchi brand of seaweed products, and it’s fun to compare their flavors and fragrances! Among other places, they can be bought at Tokushima Awa Odori Airport, Arudeyo Tokushima, and Tokushima Tokutoku Terminal. As they make great souvenirs, please pick some up the next time you visit Tokushima!
