A year-round leisure land where you can admire the flowers and trees in season, Yamaguchi Flower Land is located about 15 minutes from the Sanyo Expressway’s Kuga interchange.

Pleasing the eye, mind and spirit, we visited this time when the pansies, violets and rapeseed flowers were in full bloom.

There’s a large open field within the park where you can play with balance balls and hula-hoops that you can borrow (free).
There is also a playground slide and a biotope, so it’s a great spot to visit with children. Bringing a packed lunch is okay, and apparently on weekends when the weather is good the park is bustling with families.

Among other well thought-out gardens, there’s a rose garden, a European style garden, and a hill of herbs; none of them too big, and all just the right size for relaxed strolls.
When we visited there was only a little bit of greenery to complement the flowers, but when the trees are in full leaf, the gardens are even more beautiful.
The symbol of Yamaguchi Flower Land is to found near the entrance: the flower Ferris wheel, Hana Kururin.
Though you’re not able to ride the wheel, just watching the 24 flower-filled gondolas going slowly around heals the mind. (Flowers change according to season.)

If you get hungry after enjoying walking around the gardens, spend lunchtime at the onsite Italian restaurant.
The buffet style lunch satisfies both the stomach and the mind.

A lot of staff work within the park, and even when we were there this pansy item was being carefully tended. Thanks to this accumulation of steady work we can enjoy the beautiful flowers within the park.

Yamaguchi Flower Land is located about 8-minutes drive from Yanai’s white-walled townscape. If you come to Yamaguchi on a family trip, how about stopping by?
