Shokudo Mitsubachi: If You Visit Shimanami Kaido, You Will Want to Go to This Restaurant on a Small Island Floating in the Seto Inland Sea!

In recent years, a myriad of trendy cafés have opened around the Shimanami Kaido area.
Today we’ll be introducing one of the best!
This is Oshima Island, one of the islands through which Shimanami Kaido passes.

As you travel along the shoreline on the east side of the island, suddenly a cute building pops up. You can’t help but turn back to look at “Shokudo Mitsubachi”!
Apparently, the owners renovated the former villa themselves, and even added the café space with its truly chic blue walls.
Since it opened in December 2011, word of the café has spread throughout the whole of Japan. Nowadays, it’s highly popular among local women, and on weekends, the parking area is filled with cars from other prefectures.

As you enter the café, you see a large table and a comfortable-looking sofa – the ambience is very cozy.

Even the counter is really fashionable.
Here you can also find photographic collections and guidebooks about the island.

This is the café area with its impressive blue walls.
As you can see the calm Seto Inland Sea right in front of your eyes, the real pleasure of the café is that you can spend some relaxing island time admiring the view.

In the menu written nonchalantly on the window, you can also see the owner’s good taste.

For lunch, I recommend the daily fish special, which is made of the local catch.
Both the fruit of the sea and the bounty of the land are on offer…

For teatime, I recommend the cake set.
The lovely cakes and puddings change every now and then…

These are the cute benches placed in front of the building.
It’s a perfect spot for taking photographs, as well.
How about spending some relaxing island time enjoying delicious local fish and handmade cake while gazing at the Seto Inland Sea? Heaven on Earth!
