Park Market by the Koraku Woods & River with Views of Okayama Castle!

This is the 3rd in our serious on marchés in Okayama. Held in Ishiyama Park by Asahi River with a view of Okayama castle, this time we’re going to introduce "Koraku no Mori to Kawa Park Market" (Koraku's Forest & River Park Market).

Here are the marchés introduced previously:

UNOICHI, a marché with and ocean view:

Koraku no Mori to Kawa no Park Market is held in an area of Ishiyama Park called the "Okayama Culture Zone". Other facilities include an art museum, a library, and a music hall. Also, making it a convenient place to stop by between sightseeing spots, it's near Korakuen, one of Japan's three great gardens.

The shopkeepers all come from various areas of Okayama.

These are the extremely popular donuts offered at Okayama marché. On this day, too, they sold out in an instant.

These are dried, organic figs.

You can also enjoy a variety of specialty coffees.

This is homemade enzyme syrup juice, the natural vibrant colors of which come exclusively from the fruit.

As well as the marché, Koraku no Mori to Kawa Park Market also offers a wide range of events.

On this particular day, events such as rakugo (Japanese traditional comic story telling) and rice cake making could be enjoyed by both adults and children alike.

While both its location and the contents offered are wonderful, making Koraku no Mori to Kawa Park Market an ideal stop off when sightseeing routes, the only unfortunate thing is that the marché isn’t held regularly. The last one was held on October 31st, 2015. (Check the website below for future dates).

How about some Okayama sightseeing mixed with Koraku no Mori to Kawa Park Market in the style of an Okayama connoisseur?
