Within Tokushima prefecture, the fishermen’s town of Naruto is known for its delicious seafood cuisine. Though it’s also famous for the tidal whirls in the Naruto Strait, this time we’d like to introduce a highly recommended seafood restaurant!

This is Arashi (storm, tempest, etc.).
The dynamic name of the restaurant reminds you of the wild whirlpools of the Naruto Strait, don’t you think?
Entering the shop, you see a huge fish-tank with fish swimming around calmly. Please take note of the colorful paper slips above it!

Made up of the catch of the day in question, this is the menu.
There are also some rare fish not listed, so be sure to check them out!
After receiving an order, the fish are taken out of the tank and prepared and served quickly, so they are as fresh as possible.

This is the sashimi set meal (JPY1080).
The flavor of young amberjack sashimi slices, is so rich… I just can’t get enough.
As it was still swimming in the tank until a moment ago, the fish is so fresh that it’s bound to be delicious.
With the rice being soaked with all the good flavor of the fish, the seabream on rice (JPY1134) is also one of the shop’s most popular dishes.
Squeeze a bit of lemon on top and add wasabi to taste. As a finale, the dish also turns into a delicious chazuke (a special tea is poured on top).
And then, a dish that is included with each set meal.
Wakame-jiru (seaweed soup).
Don’t be fooled into thinking it’s just a support act because it’s included in every set, this is actually the first-rate dish we wanted to introduce you to!
The shop uses several kinds of fish to make the broth, but the details of what exactly is used are as closely guarded secret known only to the manager of the restaurant.
Though it’s straightforward miso soup with wakame seaweed added, the flavor is just amazing. It’s so good that you almost want to put the sashimi aside and treat the soup as the main dish!
It’s completely worth coming to Tokushima just for this! If you visit Tokushima, remember Naruto’s wakame-jiru!
Once you try it, you’ll never forget it!
