Cycling the Shimanami Kaido is something that you hear about from other travellers and adventurers. It's earned an almost mythical status amongst both novice and serious cyclists. The stunning 70 km (one-way) long course spans across six islands and seven bridges against the backdrop of the Seto Inland Sea. With a marked blue cycle line you'll never have any worries of being lost taking in some of Japan's most spectacular scenery along the way. This cycling course was also selected as one of the “seven best bike routes in the world” by CNN.
And for those of you who need regular breaks then fear not as the Shimanami Kaido cycling route has over 200 base points where you can rest, recharge and fuel up. These bases also offer facilities such as air pumps, bike stands and essential amenities including drinking water and toilets.
For avid cyclists or visitors looking for a touch of adventure, then look no further than the Shimanami Kaido cycling route. Passing through some of the most beautiful of the islands that make up the Seto Inland Sea area, it's an experience that will stay with you forever.
